NASCLA News: Leading the Way, Advancing Construction Regulation

Happy New Year, NASCLA Members!

2025 is off to an exciting start as we build momentum under NASCLA’s annual theme, "Leading the Way, Advancing Construction Regulation." With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and setting new standards, we’re preparing for a dynamic and productive season. Here’s a look at what’s on the horizon through the spring:

NASCLA Committees Leading the Charge

The NASCLA Executive Committee is steering NASCLA’s governance and strategic initiatives, ensuring a strong foundation for the association’s future.

  • Focus: Supporting financial strategies, operational priorities, and advancing key objectives outlined in the new strategic plan.

The NASCLA Financial Strategy Committee, a sub-committee of the Executive Committee, is overseeing the association’s financial planning and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

  • Focus: Evaluating NASCLA’s financial strategy, monitoring investments, and providing recommendations to support long-term sustainability.

 

The NASCLA Accredited Examination Program Committee is dedicated to improving licensure portability and modernizing contractor examination processes.

  • Focus: Increasing state participation in NASCLA-accredited exams and continuing efforts to refine exam content to meet evolving industry standards.

 

The NASCLA Advocacy & Partnership Committee is amplifying NASCLA’s visibility, working to foster relationships and creating resources to support outreach efforts.

  • Focus: Developing tools to assist member states in communicating effectively with legislators and expanding partnerships with regulatory and industry organizations.

 

The NASCLA Model Legislation Committee is committed to crafting adaptable, forward-thinking regulatory frameworks, and addressing emerging challenges in the industry.

  • Focus: Revising model classifications, enhancing license portability, and exploring solutions to promote regulatory consistency across jurisdictions.

 

The NASCLA Technology Committee is integrating innovative tools and educating members on the impact of technological advancements in construction regulation.

  • Focus: Advancing a website redesign, launching a NASCLA mobile app, and hosting webinars to explore the intersection of technology and regulation.

The NASCLA Publications Task Force is driving innovation in NASCLA publications to meet the evolving needs of members.

  • Focus: Enhancing educational resources such as the Companion Course and supporting ongoing updates to key publications.

 

What’s Ahead
 

NASCLA Webinars & Education: Our first tech-focused webinar of the year will take place February 21, featuring Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D., who will be discussing economic trends in the construction industry. Stay tuned for our second education webinar on May 23, to be announced this spring.

NASCLA State Member Calls: Join us for updates and discussions on January 23, April 9, and June 26, as we connect with members across the country.

NASCLA Spring Committee Meetings: The NASCLA Accredited Examination Program, Advocacy & Partnership, Model Legislation, and Technology Committees are expected to meet virtually this spring, as needed, to assess progress and refine strategies for the remainder of 2025. Specific dates will be shared as they are determined.

NASCLA Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting: Taking place March 4–6 in Salt Lake City, this invitation-only event will provide an opportunity for NASCLA Board Members to review progress on key initiatives and participate in dedicated board training sessions to further strengthen governance and collaboration.

NASCLA Annual Conference Preparations: Planning is underway for the NASCLA 2025 Annual Conference, which promises to build on the record-breaking success of last year’s event. Details will be shared in the coming months!

NASCLA 2025 Annual Conference Save the Date: September 15 – 19, Orange County, California.
