NASCLA Power Limited System Contractor/Master Exam Development Questionnaire

Accredited Examinations

The National Association State Contractor Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) requests you and your associates help in developing the next classification within the NASCLA Accredited Examination Program for Power Limited Systems Contractor/Master Electricians.

In the fall of 2022, a group of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) representing various stakeholders in the Power Limited field across the country, came together with NASCLA to develop the initial content outline, including domains, tasks, knowledge, skills, and ability statements to build this examination. The goal of this classification will be to test on power over ethernet technologies, digital electricity (pulse power systems) and so forth. We need the assistance of additional SMEs to rate the Power Limited Systems Contractor/Master tasks and KSAs to determine the most important aspects of the job.The results of this survey will be used to determine the content areas that will be assessed on the licensure examination in multiple states.

Technology is evolving and incorporated more frequently into today’s construction designs, including critical and essential communications systems. States and other local licensing agencies understand the need for limited scope licenses for responsible qualified contractors that perform just that limited type of work beyond the power and lighting work covered in Division 2600.

If you have experience in Power Limited Systems work, please complete the survey, as this is your chance to have a stake in this examinations development. Also, if you have employees who have five (5) years’ experience in these areas, please forward this to them to complete as well. This questionnaire consists of three (3) sections and should take about 45 minutes - 1 hour to complete. You may exit the survey and re-enter at anytime as long as the same electronic device is used that you accessed the link.
